Instructions for "Digital Surround" channel extraction Anyway, here's how I finally did this I'll type it out step-by-step real simple in case any future users are Googling this same topic and stumble upon this thread:

I should've came back to this thread last night and deleted it after I figured it all out, or at least marked it as "solved" but I was so tired by this point that it kinda fell by the wayside. Ghitulescu you're right, there were a bunch of programs I tried that were not a success (either didn't do this function exactly, or I couldn't even get them to open) and they were: TsMuxer, libdca, Tranzcode, EAC, dMpowerAmp, DVD Audio Extractor, and VLC. And ya know what, I actually did! SeeMoreDigital I hope you didn't go to a lot of trouble coming up with that solution - it looks brilliant and I'm sure it would've worked perfectly.

Can I still use the 8th inch audio outputs when DTS isn't installed? Maybe the DTS app is just for added effects.įeel free to add additional thoughts or correct me if I am wrong on my assumptions. Thanks you guys! After I posted that help message, I should've just gone to bed cuz it was so late, but I'm stubborn and really wanted to figure this out on my own. Do you predict there being any issues if I uninstall DTS Audio and do you think it would be a good idea?Ĥ. If I uninstall DTS Audio, will it effect my fiber optic output?ģ. Am I right about DTS controlling the 8th inch jacks and Realtek controlling the fiber connection?Ģ.

I can't seem to find any program on my PC for Realtek which leads me to believe that it is just a driver and it is sending the audio signal with no added effects straight to my monitors.ġ. which is exactly what I don't want when trying to critically listen to a source. I also believe that DTS Audio might change the sound of the source with added effects and processing. Sort of like a "better safe than sorry" mentality.

I am considering uninstalling the DTS program to make my Windows startup more efficient (Picture below-The first icon in Windows Task Manager tells me it has a high impact on startup), and so it could reduce the chance of any weird bugs that could happen when multiple audio drivers are installed on the same computer. PC optical out->Presonus Central Station->Yamaha HS80M / HS8S I use my Digi 003+ for recording, but when watching YouTube or playing mp3s, I use the fiber optic connection because I believe it can receive less interference from other cables and electronics in the area and send a better signal to my studio monitors. Maybe I am wrong, but I think DTS Audio does not control the optical output. A light pipe/fiber optic connection that I think uses Realtek drivers to process the audio signal on the PC. Multiple 8th inch jacks for speakers/headphones, and I think it uses a DTS Audio program (Picture below) for the drivers in Windows to control all of the settings.Ģ.

My PC has multiple outputs for audio (Picture attached).ġ. This popped in my head this morning and I can't seem to find the answer on the web or on gearslutz. I am on a quest to optimize my PC and gear for recording. This is my first post so please let me know if I did anything wrong or how I could make better posts in the future.
